Online Mouse Jiggler

Open this page on your phone, set it up in three steps, then place your mouse on the screen and press start.

Turn screen brightness to maximum. The mouse sensor reads the moving pattern through the glass, so it needs a bright screen.

Disable auto-lock / sleep on your phone. If the screen turns off, the pattern stops moving. Set it to "Never" while you use this.

Lay your mouse flat on the screen, sensor down, over the checkerboard. Works with red-light (optical) mice only, not laser or infrared. Then press start.

Runs until you press stop. Keep this tab open and in front.

The app does the tedious parts for you

The web version works, but you have to babysit it. The Mouse Jiggler app handles the brightness, the screen, and a lot more, all on its own.

Questions

Does this move my computer's cursor directly?

No, and nothing in a browser can. You open this on your phone, and the moving checkerboard nudges the optical mouse you rest on top of the screen. That mouse is what moves your computer's cursor.

Why isn't it working?

Almost always brightness or mouse type. The screen needs to be at maximum brightness, and the mouse must use a visible red-light sensor. Laser and infrared mice can't read the screen. The app's vibration mode helps in tricky cases.

Why does the screen have to stay on?

A browser tab can only animate while it's visible. If the phone sleeps or you switch tabs, the pattern freezes. That's the main reason the app exists: it keeps the screen awake for you, and the Bluetooth version doesn't need the screen at all.

Is it really free?

Yes, the web version is free with no download. The app is free too, with optional extras.
